Property Taxes and Property Tax Billing

This year, the voters at town meeting again approved a split property tax payment.  You will receive a single tax bill in late July with two tabs.  The first payment will be due the first Thursday in September (September 3, 2020) and the second on the first Thursday in February (February 4, 2021).  Your first payment is due in full on or before September 3.  There is interest charged (1% per month) if that first payment is late.  Property taxes will be due in full by February 4, 2021.  Any amounts remaining unpaid after that date will be considered delinquent and subject to interest and penalty (see below also).  There will be only one billing and it is up to you to remember when your taxes are due so put it on your calendars!  Notice will be mailed to all tax payers in December or early January as a reminder of the upcoming due date.

Federal and State Income Tax Filing – The federal government and the State of Vermont has extended the deadline for FILING AND PAYING taxes due from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020.

“In addition to moving the deadline for filing Vermont income tax from April 15 to July 15, the Department will provide relief to businesses owing Meals and Rooms Tax and Sales and Use Tax by foregoing any penalty or interest for those who are not able to meet the March 25 or April 25 deadlines.” – Vermont Tax Commissioner, Craig Bolio
