SelectBoard Minutes - February 3, 2009

SELECTBOARD MEETING
FEBRUARY 3, 2009

Present: Vern Stone, John LaPierre, Marc McKee (by phone), Dana Baltz
Guests: Bob Hodge, John Roy, Debra Kingsbury

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm.

John Roy attended to say Vershare will reimburse the Sheriff's department for the fee it charged to instruct the summer camp drivers on safe loading of children in vans. Vershare didn't realize there was a cost for this at the time; they thought it was included in the annual fee. He also said Vershare used the Town Center Sat 1/31/09. They moved some boxes to the rear of the room and cleaned up afterwards.

John reported that ECI is trying to get the bonds backed by the Federal government and that Senator Lahey's office has been supportive.

Marc, who is currently in NYC, called during the meeting and was put on the speaker phone so the Selectboard could discuss the truck. Marc called Kevin earlier today. Kevin said he had talked with General Motors and GM said it would pay $7,000 for the old truck. Marc wondered what would happen if the old Ford truck broke down before the town could get a new truck. Marc feels the town needs to have a plan and quickly. Bob asked about selling the truck as he knows someone who is interested. The sander goes with the truck. Bob will look into this.

The backhoe was discussed also. Bob prefers John Deere to Caterpillar. He said JD has better service in this area. It was pointed out that the article in the warning specifically states JD. If this needs to be changed it will have to be amended from the floor during the town meeting.

Bob reported that the road crew has been moving snow and washing the trucks. He said a pressure washer was going to be hooked up at the garage. Nothing was budgeted for a well at the garage in 20098. Vern said 2 Rivers Ottauquechee might be able to help with the well. Vern will call 2 Rivers. There was a discussion about the septic tank. No one knows when the garage was built. Debra said the garage situation could be brought up at the Town Meeting during 'Other Business'. The garage could be used as an emergency shelter: it has a bathroom, generator and is handicap accessible.

The Selectboard reviewed the mail.

Debra asked if the Selectboard will require the Cabaret producers to pay rent for the Town Center. The Selectboard will discuss this.

Vern signed the overweight permit.

Vern moved to sign the orders. John seconded. All were in favor.

There were no draft minutes to approve at this meeting. They will be approved at the next meeting.

The listers' computer was discussed. If they get a new one next year, the old one might be given to the road crew.

Dana Baltz resigned as the Selectboard secretary, administrative assistant and the planning board secretary.

Vern moved to adjourn at 8:25pm. John seconded. All were in favor.
