Last Selectboard Meeting minutes approved - no changes.
Update on the Town Center Building - Committee members John Zimmer & Neil Hochstedler.
The committee reported that Dave Wurtz completed a building inspection and is expected to submit a quote for replacing a number of safety related parts on the heating system and hot water supply. This work is required for the proper operation of these systems and include new mix (tempering) valve, zone valves and a new flow switch. A discussion ensued regarding source of funding to cover the cost of the work (appropriated money for town center restoration?). The discussion also included Dave Wurtz' recommendations for repair of the flue pipe (need new 45's to stop leaks), need to shorten the direct vent from water heater, and the idea of installing "auto-dialers" to monitor power-offs in the building. Also, thermostats are outdated and need to be upgraded, CO monitor is not hardwired and currently has no back-up battery installed. A brief discussion was had regarding code regulation and interpretation for commercial buildings. Overall, the committee is pleased with the inspection and work performed by Mr. Wurtz to date and feel that the resulting savings from reduced propane use will probably pay for the work done so far. Selectboard and committee agreed to proceed with the work recommended by Mr. Wurtz once the quote is received.
Discussion regarding the possible need for a back-up generator at the Town Center in future. Selectboard (Stone) offered that there used to be grant money for generators for towns and suggested this should be checked into.
Discussion moved to the buried propane tank at the Town Center and need to inspect it and possibly replace with a newer one in the spring.
New side (fire)door exit - 90 degree lock/unlock (rather than 180). Eventually, all doors will need to be re-keyed.
Highway
Note from the Road Foreman regarding need to post the roads for mud season - See Town Clerk for posting dates.
Orders
Selectboard moved and signed orders.
Town Clerk
Gateway Locks from Lebanon is scheduled to change vault combination on March 4, 2009, after new Town Clerk assumes duties.
Other
News from the town attorney that Mangala Sri Buti has not filed appeal of the court decision regarding tax exempt status and so we could pre-empt by filing first (should we attempt to regain the tax revenue/status lost to the town?). Selectboard unanimously agreed not to pursue that issue at this time.
Chris Riggert, local painter/caretaker at Mangala has offered his volunteer painting services to the town for projects this spring/summer.
Meeting adjourned - 8:35pm.
